PriCells: Recombinant Human Erythropoietin (rhEPO)
Erythropoietin, or its alternatives erythropoetin or erithropoyetin or EPO, is a glycoprotein hormone that controls erythropoiesis, or red blood cell production. It is a cytokine for erythrocyte (red blood cell) precursors in the bone marrow. EPO is produced by the peritubular capillary endothelial cells in the kidney and liver, it is the hormone that regulates red blood cell production. The kidney cells that make EPO are specialized and are sensitive to low oxygen levels in the blood. These cells release EPO when the oxygen level is low in the kidney. EPO then stimulates the bone marrow to produce more red cells and thereby increase the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. Erythropoietin is used in the treatment of anemia due to chronic kidney disease/failure in multiple small animal species including dogs, cats, ferrets, and rabbits. Purify: 98%, as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis Species: Human Product Size: 1μg , 10μg , 100μg Protein Family: Growth Factors Endotoxin Level: <1EU/ml Molecular Weight: 30.4 kDa Protein Length or portion (a.a): 165 aa Biological Activity: 120,000 IU/mg. The biological activity was determined by in vivo bioassay measuring dose-dependent increase in reticulocyte count with normocythaemic mice. This recombinant human EPO is found to be fully biologically active when compared to standard. Negative test: HIV-1, HBV, HCV, Mycoplasmas, Bacteria, yeast, and fungus Protein Form: recombinant human Expression and Purification: Recombinant Human EPO is expressed in mammalian [Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells] and purified via sequential chromatography.
